An Affordable Energy Future

At PG&E, our customers enjoy some of the lowest energy bills in the nation because of ongoing work in energy efficiency. Overall, estimates show Californians have saved more than $56 billion since the institution of energy efficiency policies and utility-directed programs which began in the 1970s.

We’re working every day to help upgrade more homes and businesses with everything from simple insulation to installing rooftop solar panels. From 2010 to 2012, PG&E paid nearly $118 million in energy saving incentives to residential customers to help them use less energy. And we are the national leader in helping customers adopt solar technology, with nearly one of every four solar rooftops in America located right here in our northern and central California service area.

Right now, our California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) Program helps lower energy bills for nearly 1.4 million customers. We’ve been offering other financial assistance to low-income customers, such as the Energy Saving Assistance (ESA) Program, with free, easy home improvements to help keep their homes more energy-efficient, safe and comfortable.

At PG&E, we’re using our energy experience and our day-to-day relationships with millions of customers to build the 21st century infrastructure that California needs.
